2012 British Open Leaderboard: Adam Scott Has The Lead

Usually when you tie a course record, you're having a very good day.

That can certainly be said for Adam Scott at Round 1 of the 2012 British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Anne's. The Australian shot a 6-under 64 on Thursday morning to take an outright lead into the clubhouse, currently one shot ahead of Zach Johnson, Nicolas Colsaerts and Paul Lawrie.

Tiger Woods also had an excellent day, shooting 3-under and positioning himself nicely for a lengthy run heading into the second round. Woods is tied for fifth.

Phil Mickelson had a struggle of it in the wet conditions, putting himself nine shots back with a 3-over with just one hole remaining. Rory McIlroy has played well thus far, as he is 3-under and watching the action from the clubhouse.

On the local side of things, the St. John's alum Keegan Bradley started off hot but lost some strokes on the back nine, ending his day 1-over. New York City native John Huh is currently tied for 135th, after shooting a 5-over 75.
