The scorching New York Yankees will take the best record in baseball with them when they head to the West Coast Thursday night to begin a seven-game road trip. The Yankees will play four games against the Oakland Athletics and three against the Seattle Mariners before returning to Yankee Stadium to host the Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees defeated Toronto Wednesday, 6-0, for their ninth series sweep of the 2012 season. At 57-34 they own a .626 winning percentage and are a season-high 10 games in front of the second-place Baltimore Orioles in the American League East. The Yankees are 36-13 since May 22.

New York will look to continue its offensive assault on the West Coast. The Yankees lead the majors in home runs (146) and runs scored (449) through 91 games. The Yankees are on pace to shatter the franchise record of 244 home runs in a season (2009) and could threaten the major league record of 264, set by the 1997 Mariners. The Yankees are on pace to hit 260 home runs this season. New York has scored three or more runs in 42 consecutive games. The only team with a longer streak during baseball's live ball era is the 1994 Cleveland Indians, who did it in 48 straight games.

"If you rely on one or two guys to carry your team you're not going to be able to score runs like that consistently," said Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira. "One through nine we can get the job done."

Second baseman Robinson Cano now has a career-high 21-game hitting streak.

Pitching matchups for the Yankees-Athletics series are as follows:

Thursday: Freddy Garcia, Yankees (4-2, 5.25 ERA) vs. A.J. Griffin (1-0, 2.63)
Friday: Ivan Nova, Yankees (10-4, 4.18) vs. Tommy Milone (9-6, 3.54)
Saturday: Phil Hughes, Yankees (9-7, 4.22) vs. Jarrod Parker (6-4, 3.16)
Sunday: CC Sabathia (10-3, 3.27) vs. Bartolo Colon (6-8, 3.88)

Thursday night's game will be televised on the YES Network with first pitch at 10:05 p.m. ET.
