The 2012 MLB Draft begins Monday night, and with two picks among the top 35 choices and four in the first 75 picks the New York Mets are in position to solidify their farm system.
The Mets select 12th overall in the first round, and also have Monday's 35 overall selection, part of what is commonly referred to as the 'sandwich' round of compensatory picks.
The 35th pick is compensation for the Miami Marlins signing of Jose Reyes. The Mets also get a compensatory pick which will be 71st overall for the loss of Reyes.
The draft will continue Tuesday and Wednesday and will consist of 40 rounds overall. Monday's first round begins at 7 p.m. ET. It will be televised on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com.
The Houston Astros have first overall selection, followed by the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners.
