2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament: Stony Brook Vs. Central Florida Settles Super Regional Spot

The winner of Monday night's Coral Gables Regional between the Stony Brook Seawolves and the Central Florida Knights will move onto the Super Regionals in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Stony Brook (49-12) trounced Miami (FL) 10-2 in the opener in the Coral Gables region before losing to UCF, 9-8, in their second game. Facing elimination, the Seawolves staved off Missouri State, 10-7, and then UCF, 12-5, on Sunday for a chance to advance.

UCF (45-16) has gotten to this point with wins over Missouri State and Stony Brook. They also would advance to the next round in this winner-take-all event.

The champion of the region will move on to play LSU, a dominant force in college baseball for quite some time. Beyond that stage is the College World Series, where the top eight teams in the country battle it out for the right to be called the best.
