2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Manhattan Vs. Coastal Carolina: Jaspers Face Elimination Game Saturday After Falling To South Carolina

The Manhattan Jaspers face an elimination game at noon Saturday against third-seeded Coastal Carolina in the Columbia Regional of the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Manhattan opened the tournament Friday against the defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks. The Jaspers fell 7-0 despite starting pitcher Taylor Sewitt taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Once South Carolina finally touched Sewitt, the Gamecocks erupted for four runs in the sixth, snapping Sewitt's scoreless streak of 39 1/3 innings and chasing him from the game.

Mike Giordano relieved for Manhattan to pitch a perfect seventh inning, but South Carolina added three more insurance runs in the eighth.

Manhattan was no-hit by Colby Holmes into the eighth inning and managed just two hits in the outing.
