New Jersey resident Brian Gaffney will miss the cut at the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA after finishing his Thursday and Friday rounds at a combined 15-over-par.
Gaffney finished his Thursday round with a 7-over-par 77 and followed that up with an 8-over-par 78 on Friday. Gaffney hit half of the fairways in regulation and 13 of 36 greens in regulation. He was only 4 of 8 on sand saves and had four double bogeys during his rounds. The projected cut line is at 8-over-par.
There is currently a tie for the lead at 1-under-par between Jim Furyk, day one leader Michael Thompson and 17-year-old Beau Hossler. Tiger Woods briefly held the lead at 2-under-par on Friday before falling from the lead down to 1-over-par.
