U.S. Open Golf Leaderboard 2012: Tim Weinhart Shoots 8-Over-Par In First Round

Rochester, N.Y., native Tim Weinhart struggled during the first round of the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club with an 8-over-par 78. Weinhart, 42, has never played in the U.S. Open during his career. While he struggled to hit fairways and greens in regulation on Thursday, Weinhart was 3-3 on sand saves.

Weinhart was paired with Hunter Hamrick and Scott Smith. Hamrick shot a 7-over-par 77 and Smith shot a 8-over-par 78. The trio had company near the bottom of the leaderboard in 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson who shot 8-over-par 78 in Tiger Woods' group.

Weinhart, Hamrick and Smith will tee off on Friday at 5:57 p.m. EST. The current leader, Michael Thompson, shot a 4-under-par 66 on Thursday.
