The Manhattan Jaspers were blanked by the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks in Game 2 of the Columbia Regional of the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Things went south for Manhattan in the sixth, when Manhattan's star pitcher Taylor Sewitt gave up a two out single to Adam Matthews followed by a triple to Tanner English. South Carolina would add three more in the eighth inning, and Manhattan's bats were never able to answer. Jasper second baseman Nick Camastro and right fielder Joe Rock were the only two on the team to get a hit.
The loss sends Manhattan to the loser's bracket, where they will play an elimination game against No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
