Cody Ransom went 2-for-3 at the plate including three RBI, the latter being the game-winner coming in the top of the eighth inning which helped the Arizona Diamondbacks down the New York Mets 5-4 at Citi Field. The Diamondbacks (14-13) snapped a two-game losing streak, while the Mets (13-13) have now lost four straight.
Mets' starting pitcher Dillon Gee did his job tossing six innings and allows just two runs, however, he wasn't supported by his bullpen, which allowed three runs in three innings. Gee left as the winning pitcher, as New York led 6-4 entering the seventh, but a three-run eighth, capped by a Ransom two-out, RBI single, off of Mets' reliever Jon Rauch, gave Arizona the lead. Rauch was credited with his first loss of the season.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Mets put a rally together placing runners at the corners with two outs, however, Josh Thole lined out to right field to end the threat.
