Patrick Ewing Passed Over For Charlotte Bobcats Head Coaching Job

Maybe it just isn't meant to be for former New York Knicks great Patrick Ewing. He wants desperately to be an NBA head coach, but it seems more and more as if the NBA does not feel the same way.

Ewing was a candidate for the vacant Charlotte Bobcats head coaching job, a team owned by Ewing's friend, Michael Jordan. After getting an interview, however, Ewing has been informed he is no longer a candidate for the job.

Ewing has been an NBA assistant coach for nine seasons.

↵

Yahoo! Sports speculated that Ewing's friendship with Jordan may have actually worked against him in this case, as Jordan has apparently been accused of hiring too many cronies within the Bobcats organization.

Ewing interviewed for the Detroit Pistons job a year ago. Even as an assistant he will be searching for a new employer as the Orlando Magic have fired head coach Stan Van Gunday.
