Yonkers, N.Y. native James Blake opens with a first-round match against No. 27 seed Mikhail Youzhny. With a game better-suited for other surfaces, Blake has never advanced past the third round at Roland Garros.
On the women's side, New Jersey native Christina McHale opens against un-ranked Kiki Bertens. The 20-year old McHale has not reached the second round at Roland Garros in either of her two tries.
Rafael Nadal has won six of the past seven French Opens, but Novak Djokovic is the top seed.
