The 2012 MAAC baseball tournament kicks off on Thursday, May 25, at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY. The Manhattan College Jaspers are vying with three other teams for a bid the College World Series, the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship tournament.
The Jaspers won the MAAC baseball tournament last season, and will start their bid to repeat with a 3:00 p.m. game against No. 4 Rider, the opening game of the tournament. The Jaspers wrapped up their regular season with seven straight wins. They last faced Rider in a three-game series in mid-April, in which Rider won two of three.
No. 2 Canisius takes on No. 3 Fairfield in the second game of the day. Canisius won eight of their last ten regular season games. That streak came on the heel of losing two of three to Fairfield in the final weekend of April.
