The 2012 MAAC Baseball Tournament is scheduled for May 24-May 27 at Siena College's Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy, N.Y. Manhattan College, Canisius College, Fairfield University and Rider University will vie for the tournament crown.
The tournament is a double-elimination format. The winner gets the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The draw for the regional sites which start the road to Omaha and the College World Series will be at noon on May 28 on ESPNU.
Manhattan (29-24, 18-6 MAAC) is the defending MAAC champion and enters the tournament on a seven-game winning streak. The Jaspers also won the league title in 2006. Manhattan was the only undefeated team at home this season in college baseball (18-0).
Rider (21-32, 13-11 MAAC) will be looking for their third MAAC title in five years. The Broncos did not drop a series during the last month of the season.
Fairfield (27-26, 14-10 MAAC) makes a return to the tournament for the first time since 2000. The Stags set a school-record with 27 wins this season.
Canisius (31-25, 16-8 MAAC) enters the tournament having won their last four games in a row. The Golden Griffins are also 8-2 during the month of May. They will be playing in the tournament for the sixth straight season.
