Johns Hopkins Vs. Stony Brook, NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament 2012: Score And Recap

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays rolled over the Stony Brook Seawolves in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday. John Hopkins won 19-9 to advance to the second round, where they will play the winner between the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Maryland Terrapins.

The Blue Jays raced out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter. The Seawolves came back to pull within three goals, 7-4, in the second but came no closer for the rest of the game. Brandon Benn scored five goals to lead Hopkins. Chris Boland added three goals (all in the first quarter) and four assists. Matt Bellando and Russ Bonanno led the Seawolves with three and two goals, respectively.

Stony Brook (7-10) was one of the just two teams to make the tournament with a losing record. Canisius also made the tourney at 6-8 overall.
