Notre Dame Vs. Yale, 2012 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament: Irish Top Bulldogs, 13-7

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Yale Bulldogs, 13-7, on Sunday in the first round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament at Arlotta Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana.

The Irish jumped on the Bulldogs early and had a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before giving up two goals before the end of the quarter. Yale was able to trim the lead to just one with 7:41 to play in the second quarter, but Sean Rogers' second goal of the game with eight seconds left put the Irish back up by two goals. Notre Dame took over in the third quarter and finished the quarter with a 10-5 lead. Notre Dame outscored Yale again in the fourth quarter to salt away the victory.

Jim Marlatt led the Irish with a hat trick and two assists. Sean Rogers and Conor Doyle each had two goals for Notre Dame. Yale's Deron Dempster led all scorers with four goals.

The Irish will play Virginia in the second round of the tournament on May 20. The Cavaliers defeated Princeton, 6-5.
