2012 Kentucky Derby Contenders: Long-Shot Trinniberg Familiar To New York Horse Racing Fans

Kentucky Derby long-shot Trinniberg should be no stranger to New York horse racing enthusiasts. Currently a 45-1 long-shot in the 21-horse field, Trinniberg has a resume dotted with a number of appearances at New York racetracks.

In August of 2011 Trinniberg placed fifth in the Grade II Three Chimneys Saratoga Special over 61/2 furlongs at Saratoga Race Course. In September at Saratoga, Trinniberg placed second over seven furlongs in the Grade I Three Chimneys Hopeful. In October, Trinniberg ran six furlongs at Belmont Park, placing second in the Grade II Nashua.

In April, Trinniberg won the Grade III Bayshore at Aqueduct Race Track, again over seven furlongs.

Trinniberg is owned by Shivananda Racing and trained by Bisnath Parboo. He will be ridden Saturday by jockey Willie Martinez, who began his career as a groom and hotwalker at Finger Lakes Race Track, a tiny thoroughbred track in Western New York.
