The Union College Dutchmen and the Ferris State Bulldogs are tied, 1-1, after the second period of play in the 2012 Frozen Four from the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida.
After Ferris State hit the crossbar in the first period, Union hit the post in the second period. The Dutchmen would score a couple of minutes later at the 7:56 mark of the second period. Daniel Carr beat Taylor Nelson with a slap shot from the point to give Union a 1-0 lead. Greg Coburn and Jeremy Welsh assisted on the goal.
Ferris State had a couple of chances to tie the game via power-play after the Union goal. Ryan Forgaard was sent to the penalty box for tripping just 21 seconds after the goal. Cole Ikkala was booked for charging at the 15:24 mark. Ferris State would make Union pay for the penalty in the dying seconds of the second power-play on a rebound that got by Troy Grosenick in net. Kyle Bonis picked up the rebound power-play goal. An assist went to Aaron Schmit.
