2012 NFL Draft Grades: Giants' Picks of Rueben Randle, Jayron Hosley Praised

How did the New York Giants fare in rounds 2 and 3 of the 2012 NFL Draft on Friday? Here is a look at the draft grades and reactions from a handful of draft analysts.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks the Giants got good value with both selections they made on Friday.

Prisco gave the Giants a ‘B' for the Randle selection in Round 2, saying "They considered him in the first round, and now he fell to them? That's value. Some scouts think he was a little soft. But it's a good value pick." Prisco gave the selection of Hosley in Round 3 a 'C', saying the diminutive corner is "a good player and could be value."

Pro Football Weekly likes the selection of Randle, who "profiles as a big-play vertical threat and could help fill the void left by the departed Mario Manningham. Is a better football player than athlete and showed improvement every season."

Chad Reuter of NFL Network praised the Giants' selections. Reuter wrote:

"The Giants added strong talent by just picking the top player on the board. Adding LSU receiver Rueben Randle with the last pick in the second round gives the Super Bowl champions a great third receiver to put on the field with Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Jayron Hosley's off-field issues and lack of size (5-10, 178) caused some teams to stay away, but the Virginia Tech corner's feisty playing style and a solid locker room made him worth investing the penultimate Friday night pick."

DraftTek on the Randle selection:

"Some were questioning whether Randle fell due to character concerns, but the Giants have never been afraid of receivers with off-the-field questions and it's worked out for them. I'm not convinced that Randle is as talented as some of the other gambles the Giants have taken, but he is an upgrade on the outside that allows Cruz to stay in the slot. Grade: B"

DraftTek on the Hosley selection:

"Massive value for the Giants here. Some minor character issues may have caused Hosley to drop (positive drug test reumored at combine). Solid zone cover guy that is a major ballhawk. Grade: B"
