The New York Giants lost two free agents to the San Francisco 49ers this offseason — running back Brandon Jacobs and wide receiver Mario Manningham. After two rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft New York has replaced both players.
With their second pick, 63rd overall, the Giants Friday night selected LSU wide receiver Rueben Randle, a 6-foot-3, 207-pounder.
SI.com says this of Randle:
Randle is a big-play receiver who watched his game take off the past two seasons. He offers the size, pass-catching skill and speed to develop into a No. 1 wideout at the next level. Randle comes with a lot of upside, and his next-level skills are underrated as we move toward the draft.
Randle will compete with Jerrel Jernigan, Ramses Barden and Domenik Hixon to be the team’s third wide receiver.
Randle was the last of the 26 players invited by the NFL to attend the draft to be selected.
