2012 NFL Draft Results: At No. 29, Minnesota Vikings Take Harrison Smith

The 29th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft is in, and the Minnesota Vikings selected Harrison Smith, a safety from Notre Dame. This is the second Notre Dame playing being taken in the first round, as wide receiver Michael Floyd went to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 13. The Vikings traded down earlier in the draft to make this selection.

Impact on the Giants:

New York was not in the running of a safety, as many have them still taking a tight end or trying to improve at defensive line or linebacker. So, this doesn't hurt the defending Super Bowl champions too much in the long run.
