With the seventh pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected Alabama safety Mark Barron.
Barron, widely perceived as the top safety in the draft, has great hands and is seen as a comprehensive all-around player. He spent three years as a starter on arguably the best defense in college football. Barron nabbed 12 interceptions in his collegiate career, including seven in 2011 alone.
In Tampa Bay, Barron will likely compete with Cody Grimm and Larry Asante for a starting safety job. A Bucs defense that has somewhat struggled to transition into the next decade gets a lot stronger with Barron now in the fold.

The Giants are relatively set at safety, though the Jets were mentioned as a possibility for Barron midway through the first round.
