The UFC has announced ticket sales for UFC on FX 4: Maynard vs. Guida on Friday, June 22 at the Revel in Atlantic City, N.J. UFC Fight Club members can get first access to tickets on Wednesday, April 18 at 10 a.m. ET for the promotion’s first Atlantic City appearance since UFC 53 in June 2005.
The headliner for the event is a five-round fight between top lightweight contenders Gray Maynard and Clay Guida. Maynard (10-1-1, 1 NC) started his MMA career 10-0 – which included handing Frankie Edgar his first career defeat -- and earned a shot at Edgar's lightweight title on January 1, 2001 at UFC 125, when the two fought to a split draw. Maynard was knocked out in Round 4 of their rubber match at UFC 136 on October 8. He subsequently left the Xtreme Couture gym for American Kickboxing Academy and has since become a member of the Nova Uniao camp, where he was awarded his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Carlson Gracie protégé Andre Pederneira.
Guida (29-12) had a four-fight win streak snapped by current 155-pound champion Ben Henderson at the inaugural UFC on Fox show last November, a bout that earned Fight of the Night honors. A win by Maynard or Guida puts one of them back into the conversation for future No. 1 contender. On May 5 at the IZOD Center, Jim Miller and Nate Diaz will headline UFC on Fox 3 that will determine the likely next challenger to whomever wins the Henderson-Edgar rematch expected to take place this summer.
UFC on FX 4 also features a rubber match between lightweights Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout along with two intriguing featherweight fights. Ultimate Fighter Season 9 winner Ross Person will face Cub Swanson and rising star Jimy Hettes will put his unbeaten (10-0) record on the line against Steven Siler. New Jersey products competing in Atlantic City are Dan Miller, Nick Catone and Rich Attonito.
