Yankees Vs. Orioles Final Score: New York Gives Extra Effort To Upend Baltimore

The New York Yankees found themselves down three runs in the sixth inning, but battled back to tie the ball game up and eventually outlasted the Baltimore Orioles 5-4 in 12 innings. Raul Ibanez stroked a ground rule double to score Robinson Cano in the 12th, and Mariano Rivera came in to shut the door thereafter, recording his first save of the season.

Freddy Garcia lasted just four and two thirds innings in his inaugural start of the 2012 season for New York, giving up four runs and allowing four hits and three walks.

His counterpart, Wei-Yin Chen, threw five and two thirds innings in his MLB debut and allowed four runs of his own.

Derek Jeter's started the game off in style, taking Chen deep for his first home run of the season. He collected another hit later, although his 2-6 night actually dropped his season average down to .391.

These two teams will square off in the final outing of the series on Wednesday night, when CC Sabathia opposes right-hander Jake Arrieta.
