The Seton Hall Pirates trail the Louisville Cardinals, 23-22, after one half of play from Madison Square Garden in the 2012 Big East Tournament.

Both teams struggled against the defensive efforts of the other in the first half. As a result, the scoring was at a premium and the shooting percentages were low, 26.7% for the Cardinals and 25% for the Pirates. Seton Hall was only 2-11 from behind the arc while Louisville was just 3-9 on their three-point attempts. The Pirates did outrebound Louisville, 21-15, and made 8-10 at the free throw line.

Louisville lost their lead in a sequence of bad fouls from behind the three-point line on Pirate jump shooters. Seton Hall converted all six free throws to take a 22-20 lead with 2:45 to play. However, Seton Hall returned the favor on this play which allowed Louisville to regain the lead.
