MAAC Tournament 2012: Loyola (MD) Defeats Siena, 70-60, Will Face Fairfield In Final

The No. 2 seed Loyola (MD) Greyhounds defeated the Siena Saints, 70-60, in the 2012 MAAC Tournament semifinal at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. on Sunday.

Loyola's Erik Etherly led all scorers with 21 points. Shane Walker and Robert Olson chipped in 12 points apiece for the Greyhounds. Siena was led by 17 points by Kyle Downey. The Saints also got 16 points from Owen Wignot and 13 points from O.D. Anosike.

Loyola trailed early in the game. The Greyhounds took a lead with six minutes to play in the first half and never lost it the rest of the way. Loyola hit 7-13 three-point attempts while holding the Saints to just 2-9 from behind the arc.

The Greyhounds will meet the No. 4 seed Fairfield Stags in the MAAC Tournament final on Monday at 7 p.m. (TV: ESPN2/ESPN3). Fairfield got to the final with a stunning 85-75 upset over the top-seeded Iona Gaels earlier on Sunday. The winner of the Loyola (MD)-Fairfield matchup will win the conference's automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
