The semifinals of the 2012 MAAC conference tournament are set, with top-seeded Iona looking very much the part of a favorite.
Iona drubbed Marist 87-63 on Saturday afternoon, setting up a semifinal matchup against Fairfield, who eked out a win against Rider 65-63. Senior forward Mike Glove poured in 29 points for Iona, and the Gaels sprinted past Marist in the second half.
On the other side of the bracket, Loyola (MD) used a strong second half of its own to move past Niagra to the semifinals, and it was charged by Dylon Cormier and Erik Etherly, who combined for 44 points.
In the final game of the night Siena tipped Manhattan, 84-82.
The semifinals will be played Sunday afternoon, starting with Iona and Fairfield at 2 p.m. EST and followed by Loyola (MD) and Siena. Both games will be played in Springfield, MA -- the host site for the tournament -- and can be seen on ESPN3.
