Would Bill Parcells really step back onto an NFL sideline in 2012 to fill in for the suspended Sean Payton as interim/replacement head coach of the New Orleans Saints? NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer was the first to report that Parcells and Payton will meet to discuss the possibility.
Payton, of course, will be suspended for the 2012 season due to the Saints' bounty scandal.
NFL.com reported that Parcells being offered the job was "not likely at this point."
↵Still, highly intriguing. Would the former New York Giants and New York Jets coach return to the sidelines for what would likely be a one-year cameo, again delaying his possible enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Parcells was a Hall of Fame finalist in 2012.
↵It has been thought Parcells was done with coaching. If you are familiar with the 70-year-old Parcells, however, you know he changes his mind about as often as the wind changes direction. So, anything is possible.
↵Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo are also reportedly candidates for the temporary assignment.
