Moe Harkless' Decision To Leave St. John's For NBA 'Bittersweet'

SB Nation's St. John's website, Rumble In The Garden, today called Moe Harkless' decision to leave the school and declare for the NBA Draft "bittersweet." Harkless, a 6-foot-6 forward just completed his freshman season with the Red Storm. He averaged 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

'Rumble' called Harkless "the face of hope as the Red Storm struggled through the Big East season" and added that "having a player go pro after a year is great publicity for the St. John's program."

Rumble lists various projections for Harkless, who looks like a mid- first-round selection at this point in time.

"The future is never guaranteed and I feel like the opportunity and a chance to pursue that dream is available right now," Harkless said.

Now St. John's fans have to hope that coach Steve Lavin can continue to recruit talented players and that Harkless isn't taking the team's chance at being competitive to the NBA with him.
