The Seton Hall Pirates fell behind 36-30 at halftime of a fast-paced bout with the Massachusetts Minutemen at Walsh Gymnasium Saturday morning during the second round of the 2012 National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
Seton Hall, the top seed, struggled to contain UMass' dribble penetration during the first 20 minutes. Minutemen guard Chaz Williams especially broke down Seton Hall's defense, finishing the half with six points, six rebounds and three assists.
Fuquan Edwin paced Seton Hall with 10 points and Jordan Theodore added seven. Herb Pope struggled inside, shooting just one for six en route to scoring two points. The big man did chip in six rebounds.
The victor moves on to the quarterfinals to play the winner of Sunday's Drexel-Northern Iowa matchup.
