Baron Davis Injury Update: Veteran Guard Won't Play Saturday

Just when Baron Davis’ game was rounding into shape, and opportunity was knocking for him, the veteran guard left Friday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a strained hamstring.

Davis will not play Saturday when the Knicks travel to Indiana for the second game of a home-and-home set. He believes he “should be all right in a couple of days.”

Davis missed the first seven weeks of the season with a back injury and has averaged 4.5 points and 5.6 assists since his return.

His playing time has been expected to increase with Mike Woodson having taken over from Mike D’Antoni as head coach

“It’s very frustrating,” Davis said. “We were in a good groove and I was in a good groove, finally.”

Some have speculated Woodson might even replace starting point guard Jeremy Lin with Davis — something Woodson has said won’t happen.

One thing we know for sure — it can’t happen while Davis can’t play.
