The Syracuse Orange continue March Madness on Saturday with round two of the NCAA Tournament against Kansas St.
Syracuse unexpectedly struggled against UNC-Asheville, needing to make several free throws down the stretch to hold on for a 72-65 win. James Southerland had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead Syracuse, scoring 13 second-half points as the Orange fended off the upset.
Kansas St. likewise was tested on Thursday during round one, holding off a strong effort from Southern Mississippi, 70-64, as Angel Rodriguez pitched in seven points during the final two minutes and 10 seconds.
