NCAA Basketball Tournament Predictions 2012: Your East Region Pick Should Be...

The start of the NCAA Tournament is just a few days away, and if you're having trouble filling out your March Madness bracket, well, no worries here my friend as SB Nation New York has come to the rescue. Below is East region breakdown pick-by-pick all the way until one reaches the Final Four in New Orleans, LA.

Round of 64

(No. 1-seeded) Syracuse Orange vs. (16) UNC-Asheville Bulldogs
Tidbit: Despite not having sophomore center Fab Melo, a No. 16-seed has never beaten a No. 1 seed and don't expect that to change here, as the Orange have proved it can win without the 7-footer
Prediction: Syracuse

(8) Kansas St. Wildcats vs. (9) Southern Miss. Golden Eagles
Tidbit: The Golden Eagles got a favorable seed, and I don't see a Conference-USA team beating a Big 12 opponent.
Prediction: Kansas St.

(5) Vanderbilt Commodores vs. (12) Harvard Crimson
Tidbit: I think Harvard can hang around in this one, and is good enough to pull off the upset.
Prediction: Harvard

(4) Wisconsin Badgers vs. (13) Montana Grizzlies
Tidbit: A lot of people like Montana here, but the Badgers were tested big time in the Big 10 conference and I don't see them slipping up.
Prediction: Wisconsin

(6) Cincinnati Bearcats vs. (11) Texas Longhorns
Tidbit: As of late, the Bearcats have been hot and I believe they will keep it going in this Round of 64 matchup.
Prediction: Cincinnati

(3) Florida St. Seminoles vs. (11) St. Bonaventure Bonnies
Tidbit: Defense is going to be a key in this tournament and there's not a much better defensive team than the Seminoles.
Prediction: Florida St.

(7) Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. (10) West Virginia Mountaineers
Tidbit: Senior forward Kevin Jones and head coach Bob Huggins will not let the Mountaineers lose this first-round game.
Prediction: West Virgina

(2) Ohio St. Buckeyes vs. (15) Loyola, Md. Greyhounds
Tidbit: I play percentages in the Round of 64 matchups, and the percentages say that the Buckeyes are going to win.
Prediction: Ohio St.

Round of 32

(1) Syracuse vs. (8) Kansas St.
Tidbit: There's a few things that need to happen to beat 'Cuse: 1) Don't turn the ball over; 2) Hit your 3-pointers and K-State doesn't do either very well.
Prediction: Syracuse

(12) Harvard vs. (4) Wisconsin
Tidbit: Cinderella keeps dancing.
Prediction: Harvard

(6) Cincinnati vs. (3) Florida St.
Tidbit: This is a very good Round of 32 matchup, and I'll go with the better defensive team in Florida St.
Prediction: Florida St.

(7) West Virginia vs. (2) Ohio St.
Tidbit: Jones vs. Jared Sullinger will be a great showdown, and the more talented Sullinger will win.
Prediction: Ohio. St.

Sweet 16

(1) Syracuse vs. (12) Harvard
Tidbit: Even without Melo, the Orange are just too good for Harvard in this one.
Prediction: Syracuse

(3) Florida St. vs. (2) Ohio St.
Tidbit: This is such a coin-flip game, and as much as I like Florida State, I have to to go with the Buckeyes.
Prediction: Ohio St.

Elite 8

(1) Syracuse vs. (3) Ohio St.
Tidbit: This will be a huge match-up issue for the Orange with Melo now out. However, Syracuse plays team basketball and they'll find ways to exploit other match ups.
Prediction: Syracuse
