Knicks News: Carmelo Anthony Disliked New York's J.R. Smith Signing

The New York Knicks have lost five straight, "Fire D'Antoni" chants have become en vogue at Madison Square Garden and Amare Stoudemire questioned his team's heart and intelligence after its latest loss.

And now, on top of all that, Carmelo Anthony reportedly does not even want one of his teammates around. Oh, the Knicks.

Somebody close to Carmelo Anthony told the New York Post's Marc Berman that Anthony never endorsed the Smith signing and in fact spoke out against the idea. Of course, the Knicks went ahead and signed Smith anyway, repotedly leaving 'Melo to stew about his lack of sway within the organization.

"If it happens, it happens and I'll be happy," Anthony said publicly before the signing.

But, according to the source, Anthony was not gung-ho and was "hurt'' Knicks upper management tossed his advice out the window.

The Knicks locker room must be a truly happy place these days. Smiles all around, for sure.
