2012 NFL Combine Results: Syracuse's Phillip Thomas Not Impressive In 40-Yard Dash

Phillip Thomas, a defensive back prospect from the Syracuse football program, has just finished running the 40-yard dash at the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, and the results were not very good. Thomas posted unofficial times of 4.72 seconds and 4.59, which is mediocre for secondary prospects.

On Thomas' first attempt it seemed as if he slipped out of the blocks, however, failed to stop and try again (which is allowed). The result was the second-worst time among all defensive backs.

Then, on his second attempt, Thomas was again a bit slow out of the gate, but, was better. Thomas can only hope now that his Syracuse Pro Day, March 8, will provide a better gauge of his speed.

Thomas, measured at 5-foot-11, 198 pounds and is a projected seventh-round selection in the NFL Draft, isn't the biggest secondary prospect. Thomas will now be counting on his ball skills and agility to hopefully set him a part from others competitors.

So far, Thomas has also participated in the bench press where he did just 14 reps of 250-pounds, however, giving Thomas' statue that wasn't expected to be his best event.
