Brian Rolston, Mike Mottau Traded From New York Islanders To Boston Bruins

The New York Islanders have agreed to a trade that will send forward Brian Rolston and defenseman Mike Mottau to the Boston Bruins in exchange for minor league prospects Yannick Riendeau and Marc Cantin, according to multiple reports.

Rolston, who has scored four goals and registered five assists in 49 games with the Islanders this season, will be returning to the Bruins after eight years away from the team. The 39-year old spent four-plus seasons in Boston from 2000-2004.

The deal will also result in a homecoming for Mottau. The defenseman, who has two assists in 29 games with the Islanders this season, was born in Quincy, MA.

Riendeau is a 23-year old right wing who has notched three goals and three assists in 18 games with the AHL's Providence Bruins. Cantin is a defenseman who has one goal and five assists in 16 games with the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
