Seton Hall Vs. Georgetown: Pirates Host No. 9 Hoyas At The Prudential Center

The Seton Hall Pirates will try to earn their second victory over a top-10 ranked program Tuesday, when they host the No. 9-ranked Georgetown Hoyas in a Big East Conference men's basketball game at the Prudential Center (7 p.m. on SNY). The Pirates (18-9, 7-8 Big East) are looking to bounce-back from loss and secure a NCAA Tournament bid, while the Hoyas (20-5, 10-4) are winners of four of their last five games.r

On Saturday, Seton Hall had its three-game winning streak snapped with a loss at the Cincinnati Bearcats, 62-57. Senior point guard Jordan Theodore and sophomore forward Fuquan Edwin each scored a team-best 15 points, while senior forward Herb Pope collected 10 points and 14 rebounds.

This season, the Pirates are 1-2 against top-25 opponents, as they lost to the Syracuse Orange and Marquette Golden Eagles, but downed the Connecticut Huskies. Last season, Seton Hall shocked No. 9-ranked Syracuse at the Carrier Dome, 90-68.

Meanwhile, Georgetown is looking to move one step closer to locking up a double-bye in the Big East Tournament, March 6-10 at Madison Square Garden. Currently, the Hoyas are in fourth place in the league standing and would earn the double-bye, however, Georgetown still has four regular-season contests remaining and a slip up could lead to drop in its season.

In the history of this Big East series, Georgetown has earned victories in six of the last seven meetings. The last Seton Hall victory game in 2009 when the Pirates downed the visiting Hoyas, 65-60.
