For more, Week 14 means the first week of the fantasy football playoffs.
Here is your guide on who to start and who to sit among the New York Jets as they face the Jaguars in Jacksonville.
Quarterback
Head coach Rex Ryan named Mark Sanchez the starter for Sunday and said that Tim Tebow, if healthy, will be the No. 2 QB in his return to his hometown. Regardless of who is under center for the Jets, neither Sanchez or Tebow should even be on a fantasy roster at this point in the season.
Verdict - You should not own a Jets QB
Running Back
Shonn Greene rushed for 104 yards last week in the Jets' victory over Arizona. Jacksonville is ranked 31st in the league against the run, allowing 144 yards per game. Bilal Powell had 12 carries last week, including at the goal line. Both guys are low-end flex options at best, with Greene having more upside because of the likelihood of more carries.
Verdict - Consider Greene as a flex, but bench Powell
Receivers
This unit, with Sanchez, Tebow or Greg McElroy under center, is not fantasy worthy if only because the quarterback play is so inconsistent that no receiver can be counted on to produce. The Jags are 26th in the league against the pass, but that does not matter here.
Verdict - Do not start any Jets receiver
Kicker
Nick Folk has had a great year, but not from a fantasy standpoint. He just has not had enough opportunities to score.
Verdict - Sit him
Defense/Special Teams
This unit was a great play last week against a rookie quarterback starting his second-career game, and the Jets DST is a strong play again this week against the Jags, who come into the game with the 23rd ranked offense.
Chad Henne is now the starting quarterback, and receivers Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts have emerged as threats, but they are not enough to scare the Jets and their No. 4 passing defense.
Verdict - Start them as a low No. 1 option
Good luck in the first week of the fantasy playoffs.
