Gerald Wallace fined $5K for flopping

Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace was fined $5,000 for flopping.

The NBA fined Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace $5,000 for flopping on Wednesday. Wallace was warned last week and was fined following a flop in the third quarter of the Nets 102-89 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday, Dec. 1. Wallace is the second player to be fined for flopping, with his Nets teammate Reggie Evans as the first.

Wallace will be fined $10,000 for the next violation, $15,000 for his fourth violation, and $30,000 for his fifth violation. The sixth violation of the flopping rule is subject to league review. Wallace is making $9.7 million with the Nets this season.

Wallace received his first warning for a flop following the Nets 96-89 overtime victory over the New York Knicks on Nov. 26. He is averaging 9.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.9 steals per game in 10 games with the Nets this season. The Nets host the Golden State Warriors at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 7.
