2012 NBA schedule: Knicks, Nets with Christmas Day matinees

The Knicks and Nets will both be in action on Christmas Day. Both teams also play the following night.

USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets both have Christmas Day matinees, with the Nets kicking off the NBA's five-game slate by hosting the Boston Celtics at the Barclays Center. The Knicks follow that game with a tilt against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

The Nets and Celtics have both gotten off to so-so starts this season. Brooklyn is 14-12 after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, and Boston is at 13-13. The Celtics have really struggled on the road this season, sporting a 4-8 record away from the TD Garden.

The Knicks will enter their high profile matchup against the Lakers 20-7 and atop the Atlantic Division. Los Angeles is starting to turn things around after a rough start, having won four in a row and sitting at 13-14.

Both the Knicks and Nets will also be in action the following night. New York will stay out west to face the Phoenix Suns, while Brooklyn will head to Milwaukee to face the Bucks.
