New York Giants cornerback Corey Webster has received a $7,875 fine from the National Football League's commissioner's office for his tussle with Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White during New York's 34-0 loss on Sunday, via Tom Rock of Newsday.
White was not let off the hook, however, as the star wide receiver also received a fine of the same amount for his involvement in the skirmish. The incident occurred late in the third quarter and with the score already being 24-0 in favor of the Falcons.
With 6:04 remaining in the third quarter, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan connected with wide receiver Harry Douglas for 36 yards, converting a third-and-long situation for the team. At the conclusion of the play, White and Webster began to get a little too physical for the game officials, creating offsetting personal foul penalties.
White grabbed Webster's facemask and the defensive back followed with a strike in 'the face area' of the wide receiver's, via Tom Rock.
