Noah Snydergaard, a pitching prospect acquired in the R.A. Dickey trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, found himself in the New York spotlight Tuesday, and not for a good reason.
According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, Snydergaard recently used an anti-gay slur in a tweet: "Nice crocs f** lol."
Syndergaard, 20, along with catcher Travis d'Arnaud, was traded to the Mets over the weekend for National League Cy Young Award winner Dickey.
The Daily News report says Snydergaard's tweet is no longer visible on his feed, but they were able to save it before it was deleted.
A New York spokesperson did speak with the Daily News and said the organization was looking into the matter. Its unclear if Snydergaard will be punished, but it will be a nice lesson on the public scrutiny of the New York media and fan base.
There has been no reaction from Snydergaard.
