Juninho signs with New York Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Juninho on Monday afternoon.

The New York Red Bulls have signed Brazilian midfielder Juninho, according to a press release from the team on Monday afternoon.

The specifics of the contract have yet to be released. Juninho will be added to the Red Bulls roster pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

The 37-year-old Brazilian native is known as a free kick specialist. He made his national team debut for Brazil in 1999 and has recorded 47 caps with the team, in addition to seven goals.

Juninho began his professional career with Brazilian club Sport in 1991. In 1995, he joined First Division club Vasco da Gama, where he helped the team record Brazilian Championships in 1997 and 2000, as well as a victory in the Copa Libertadores in 1998.

In 2001, he joined Olympique Lyonnais of the French First Division, where he helped the club record seven-consecutive Ligue 1 titles. He recorded 100 goals in 344 matches during his time with the club. In 2011, he re-joined Vasco de Gama and recorded 14 goals in 50 matches.
