NFL power rankings, Week 15: Giants, Jets both rising after wins

Solid victories last weekend have proven to be kind to the New York Giants and New York Jets in this week's NFL power rankings.

Both the New York Giants and New York Jets see improvement across the board in this week's NFL power rankings after solid victories last Sunday. The Giants convincingly beat the surging New Orleans Saints, 52-27, while the Jets knocked off the Jacksonville Jaguars, 17-10.

SB Nation's Joel Thorman is especially generous to the Jets, moving them up from No. 17 to No. 23 despite beating a two-win team by just seven points. Still, at 6-7 overall, Thorman does note that, "It's going to be great when the Jets make the playoffs." For Jets fans, most certainly. The Giants move up from No. 8 to No. 7 in Thorman's rankings.

ESPN moves both New York teams up three spots apiece, with the Giants landing at No. 7 and the Jets at No. 19. Those are the exact same rankings given to the teams by CBS Sports' Pete Prisco, who writes of the Giants, "The offense had to come alive, and the Saints were the perfect tonic. David Wilson's speed has to be used more on offense."

Former Ravens coach and current FOX Sports analyst Brian Billick also has the Giants at No. 7, but the Jets are ranked just 24th. Of Rex Ryan's squad, he says, "The Jets attempted 42 rushes against the Jaguars and are now 6-1 in games this season in which they have 30 or more rushing attempts."
