The New York Red Bulls have hired Andy Roxburgh as their new Sporting Director. Roxburgh has extensive soccer experience, having served as the manager for Scotland's national team and Technical Director of UEFA. He also served on the technical committee for FIFA. The team announced that Roxbrugh will be responsible for all soccer activities with the club.

Roxburgh commented on his new position Friday, saying, "I am excited and honored to be given the opportunity."

In his time with the Scotland national team, Roxburgh made one World Cup appearance. With UEFA, Roxburgh initiated the group's Grassroots Charter. He also started the Convention of Mutual Coaching Qualifications, and brought on all 53 UEFA members to take part in the program.

The MLS season ended for the Red Bulls on Thursday with a loss to D.C. United. The front office has been busy, as they also chose not to retain head coach Hans Backe.
