The New York Knicks are the NBA's only unbeaten team at 3-0. They won't stay unbeaten, of course, but coach Mike Woodson thinks his team is a serious contender for an NBA title.

"We're as good as anyone in this league. I think we can beat anyone on a given night, and we can be beaten on a given night if we don't come to play," Woodson said Thursday on the Stephen A. Smith Show on ESPN Radio New York.

Woodson said he thinks his team's belief is "very deep" that it can take down the defending champion Miami Heat this season.

"I think that's why these guys were assembled here," Woodson said.

Woodson was asked if Amare Stoudemire would be a starter when he returns from knee surgery. He danced around the question, saying "I can't make that decision right now."

"Amare, make no mistake about it, is a big piece to our puzzle," Woodson said. "We are patiently going to wait for Amare to get healthy and get back, and when he gets back he's gonna be right back in there playing like the Amare of old."
