James Southerland's game-high 22 points has helped the No. 5-ranked Syracuse Orange earn a 43-38 halftime lead over the host Arkansas Razorbacks in a non-conference men's basketball game at Bud Walton Arena.
Southerland made his first six shots from the floor, including going 5-for-5 behind the 3-point arc. The senior forward ended the half 7-for-11 from the field and 6-for-9 from long range. Junior forward C.J. Fair has eight points.
The Razorbacks are paced by guard B.J. Young's 19 points. Young is 7-for-14 from the floor and is also 4-for-6 from the free throw line. Four other Arkansas players have tallied four points.
Overall, Arkansas is 15-for-18 from the charity stripe, but, are just 1-for-10 from behind the 3-point arc.
The Orange, who led by as much as 15 points, turned the ball over nine times in the first half. A majority of those came in the last 10 minutes.
SU has out-rebounded Arkansas, 21-17.
