2012 NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Consensus is Giants 8th, Jets still in bottom third

The Giants are ranked eighth in three different power rankings, while the Jets continue to flounder near the bottom.

The New York Giants are the NFL's eighth best team. The New York Jets, well, they aren't near that or anything respectable, checking in near the bottom of the same latest batch of power rankings that think rather highly of the Giants.

SB Nation, ESPN and FOX Sports' power rankings all have the Giants eighth, a jump of anywhere from one to five spots depending on the source. The rise is the result of a dominating 38-10 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night that saw the Giants snap their two-game losing streak. Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes and the Giants defense sacked Aaron Rodgers five times in a match-up of the last two Super Bowl winners.

Things aren't as rosy for the Jets, who were manhandled by the New England Patriots, 49-19, on Thanksgiving evening. The game was over before halftime, with the Patriots jumping out to a 35-0 second quarter lead as the boos rained down on the now 4-7 Jets.

The Jets' rankings are reflective of their poor play. ESPN and Fox both have them ranked 23rd, while SB Nation thinks even less of them, putting them at No. 25. It's so bad that ESPN is asking about Tim Tebow.

I don't think he is the answer, but why not start Tim Tebow at this point? It can't really get any worse, can it?

It can get worse. They could be the Chiefs.
