The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Princeton Tigers meet Friday in a men's basketball Garden State showdown at Jadwin Gymnasium (7 p.m. ET). The Scarlet Knights (1-1) will drive just 23 miles down Route 1 and try to collect their second straight victory, while the Tigers (1-1) are looking for their third straight win over Rutgers.
On Monday, the Scarlet Knights easily defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 88-62, at the RAC. Rutgers shot 54-percent from the floor and was propelled by redshirt junior forward Walley Judge's second straight double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds).
The Tigers are coming off a 67-66 loss to the Northeastern Huskies. Princeton was led by senior forward Ian Hummer's collegiate-best 25 points. Hummer, who was an All-Ivy League First Team selection last season, went 10-for-15 from the floor and added six offensive rebounds and five assists.
Princeton's starting lineup is filled with veterans: Hummer (6'7), junior guard Chris Clement (6'2), junior guard T.J. Bray (6'5), junior forward Will Barrett (6'10) and senior center Brendan Connolly (6'11).
Meanwhile, Rutgers' projected starting five features one senior: forward Dane Miller (6'6), sophomore guard Myles Mack (5'9), junior guard Mike Poole (6'5), junior forward Wally Judge (6'9) and senior center Austin Johnson (6'8).
Rutgers next game will be Tuesday against the Boston U. Terriers (7:30 p.m.).
