The New York Yankees will apparently lose out on outfielder Torii Hunter, who will reportedly sign a two-year deal with the Detroit Tigers.
So, what do the Yankees do now in right field? Nick Swisher is not being brought back, and right now the Yankees don't have a replacement.
The most likely option would seem like a one-year deal for Ichiro Suzuki, who will be 39 next season, but had a .322/.354/.422 line in 67 games with the Yankees a season ago, adding five home runs and 14 stolen bases. That move would give the Yankees a pair of slap-hitting speed and defense guys at the corner outfield spots with Ichiro and Brett Gardner.
In the wake of the Miami Marlins-Toronto Blue Jays mega-trade, there is also likely to be plenty of speculation about trading a king's ransom of prospects to Miami for young slugger Giancarlo Stanton, a 23-year-old who has 71 home runs and 153 RBI over the past two seasons.
