The St. John's Red Storm tips-off their season Tuesday when the Detroit Titans visit Carnessecca Arena for a matinee men's basketball showdown (2 p.m. ET on ESPN). The contest is a part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.

The Red Storm, led by third-year head coach Steve Lavin, will showcase a roster filled with young and athletic talent. Sophomore guard D`Angelo Harrison is the squad's top returning scorer, however, the Preseason All-Big East Second Team selection will begin the game on the bench as he continues to serve a punishment that forced him to miss the Johnnies' final exhibition game.

On Monday, Lavin said Harrison will not start but will play starter minutes. According to the St. John's game notes, the Red Storm will start sophomore forward Amir Garrett, freshman forward JaKarr Sampson, freshman forward Christian Jones, sophomore Sir'Dominic Pointer and guard Phil Greene.

Meanwhile, the Titans are coming off a 88-53 victory over the Northern Michigan Wildcats Friday night. Four players scored in double figures led by senior forward Doug Anderson and junior guard Ray McCallum. Anderson netted a game-high 25 points while McCallum added 22.

This will be the third all-time match up between the two programs. Last season, Detroit defeated St. John's, 69-63, on Dick Vitale Court.
